My career as a photojournalist began in 1992, as I worked for The Daily Independent, The Associated Press and did other freelance photography jobs. I ventured into television production in 1994 while working on my Master’s Degree at Morehead State University. In ‘96, I started working for WKYT-TV producing TV commercials, after graduating MSU. During my time at WKYT, I started shooting weddings for a friend of mine. 2 years later, I went out on my own. Shooting weddings and capturing the happy times in people lives is very fulfilling! I have never stopped learning about my craft, and have steadily developed my skill set by attending seminars and workshops devoted to doing event videography. Now, 7 years later, I do nearly 30 weddings per year, along with general event stuff and some commercial work. I still work full-time for the University of Kentucky, producing videos for the College of Agriculture.
Your wedding day is filled with emotion. It is my goal to capture it. My training as a photojournalist has taught me how to anticipate action, behavior and have an eye for details. All these things take place during the time we spend together on your wedding day. However, capturing your essence as a couple doesn’t just happen by pointing the camera at you and pressing record. From the moment we first meet, I want to get to know you both on a more personal level, so that I can not only document your event, but make sure to capture the essence of the love you express for each other.
There is a unique feel to every wedding. As the day goes on I am not only thinking of how I want to setup my next shot, but I am thinking of how I want the images myself, and my other videographer are capturing, to flow together during post production. I am able to formulate all of this as I work with you by observing all the subtleties and nuances of everyone’s interaction together throughout the day.
Interactivity with both of you during the day, as well as working with your photographer and wedding coordinator, help me to tell the complete story of your wedding day. Dynamic camera movements are used to add a cinematic look and feel. You will not find us against the wall at the back of the room. There are no 80’s style cheesy graphics and animations; Only one event is booked per weekend, and lastly, there are no subcontractors.
After the wedding is shot, all the raw footage is captured onto hard drives, where it is methodically laid out on an editing timeline. Each clip is then examined, taking the time to color correct, and add special effects to produce the “magic” you see when watching. Completed productions normally take between 50-60 hours to produce, including the fully authored DVD. I proudly serve Lexington, Louisville, Nashville, Knoxville, Cincinnati, Atlanta GA, and destinations.
